thursday’s thought

life in blush thursdays thought_if you want me earn me

These past couple of weeks I’ve been in an intense spiral watching seasons 1, 2, and 3 of Scandal. My sister raved about it before, but until I actually started watching it I didn’t understand the obsession with Keri’s Washington character, Olivia Pope, and her iconic wardrobe of white clothing.

Olivia and her team of “gladiators” are hardly living out a fairy tale, and one can even argue about Olivia’s position as a role-model, but from her twisted relationship with President Grant she did give viewers a moment to reflect upon when she yelled at him, in pure frustration, within the Oval Office.

I am not a toy you can play with when you’re bored or lonely or horny. I’m not the girl the guy gets at the end of the movie. I am not a fantasy. If you want me, earn me!

If you want me, earn me.

Those six words are incredibly powerful.

How often do we set ourselves on fire just to keep the other person warm? How often do we accept less for ourselves today in the hopes of something better tomorrow?

Everyone and every situation in your life needs to be worthy of you. It does not need to tame you or bend you to its will.

It needs to earn you.

It’s totally what you allow and what you demand. “Always remember, your focus determines your reality.”

  • I definitely feel women can be treated as objectified and seen as a prize instead of an actual person. Happy Holidays!
