{spotlight} her majesty’s pleasure

Last week I treated myself to a manicure at Her Majesty’s Pleasure, a new hot spot in the King West neighbourhood that’s a beauty salon, boutique, cafe and cocktail all rolled into one.

I mean what women wouldn’t want artisan cocktails, or French pastries, brought to her as she gets her nails did?

Owners Sarah Kardan and her husband Jeff Armstrong are trying to take nail bars in Toronto to the next level by creating a space that’s “every woman’s dream” and I have to say they’re doing a pretty good job.

As a boutique it carries some of my favourite green beauty brands such as Kahina Giving Beauty, Odacité

and One Love Organics.

As a nail bar I was immediately impressed to see they carried non-toxic polishes like RGB

and my personal favourite Treat Collection.

The ‘experience’ started immediately after I got there and they hung up my coat.

After much debate (I am a fussy girl after all) I finally settled on Treat’s blushing polish, a gorgeous shade of salmon pink, and sat at the bar ready to stop being embarrassed by how bad I had let my nails get.

Resident bartender, Ger, came over to ask me if I preferred my drinks sour or sweet (there is no drink menu so based on your preference he’ll make you a personalized cocktail) and I told him as sour as possible.

I’m not one for cocktails so I was pretty curious to see what he would come back with…and if I’d actually like it.

After 5 minutes Ger made his way back to the ‘nail bar’ side of the place and presented me with this.

My drink was called a French 75 (lemon, gin, prosecco, crushed iceand it was perfection. For someone who doesn’t like cocktails I was extremely impressed!

Ok down to business.

Sipping on my cocktail while Taylor, my nail technician, made my nails presentable to the world again was definitely a great way to relax and make getting a mani so much more fun.

With only 20 days until the Spring Equinox I thought this was a very fitting to help the warm weather hurry itself along.

If my nails had of been longer I would have indulged in nail art, which Her Majesty’s Pleasure specializes in (browse through their Instagram account here). Next time!

The cost of a basic manicure is $35, which is about $20 more than standard, but you are paying for the experience of it all.

And it’s worth it.

Due to the price however I wouldn’t come here regularly, unless I suddenly found myself fluuuuush with cash, but I would treat my self to it for special occasions.

That and a blow-out.

Anyone for a girl’s night out?!

  • The colour looks goooooood on ya. A fresh and fun eyecatcher, really. Who wouldn’t love to shake this hand? 🙂

Oh and the place! Looks so very chic; eco and elegant, right up your (and my) alley. So we might have a case of nail bar envy over here!

(Also love the bar accessories in copper. Very du jour!)

    • Thanks love! I’m hoping it’ll encourage Spring to come 😉

How is the weather in Berlin these days? xx

      • Spring is here and it’s here to stay! 🙂 At least I hope so otherwise a lot of plants, brids and animals will be in trouble.

        • O_O haha.

It’s supposed to be 11 degrees Celsius this week so I’m hopeful spring weather is finally making an appearance!

  • I CANNOT wait to go there! Thanks for posting, I didn’t know about this place! 🙂

    • Yaaaay! Be sure to let me know what you think 😀 xx
