{review} uma ultimate brightening oil

uma brightening face oil review by life in blush

If you’re into farm-to-bottle cultivation, if you’re into the feeling of spreading silk all over your face, if you’re into soft, glowing, balanced skin or if you’re just into sniffing an awesome blend of plant oils….then you’re going to want to pick up a bottle of Uma Ultimate Brightening Face Oil.

A 30 ml bottle retails for $150 USD and I would pay that in a heartbeat.

You guys know that when it comes to products this expensive I usually say if you’re flush with cash then treat yo self, but in this case (and this is the first time I’m saying it) I would actually pay it regardless of being flush or not.

We’re talking holy grail status.

I’ve been using the bottle pictured above since mid-December and at a rate of 2x day I still have almost half a bottle left. Work out the math on that and the price no longer holds sticker shock value

(75 days x 2 = 150; double that to 300 since there’s approx. half a bottle left and you get $0.50 per use)

scorecard

ingredients: essential oils of orange, neroli, sandalwood, ylang ylang, clary sage, geranium, lavender, frankincense, rose in a pomegranate oil base

I noticed, when looking through Uma’s line up of products, that founder Shrankhla Holecek seemed to favour pomegranate as the base oil. The only base oil. Which is unusual to see.

I had the opportunity to talk to Shrankhla (check back tomorrow for the full interview!) and, in her words, here is why she chose to make pomegranate her star.

Pomegranate oil is a remarkably lightweight and absorbent oil, which allows it to deliver nutrients more rapidly to the subcellular epidermis. Its texture dispels notions of oils as too heavy or thick for facial use – which is a frequently mentioned barrier to entry for women who haven’t used facial oils before. It’s also incredibly rich in nutrients, especially vitamins A, D, K, and E – and a wide range of antioxidants for extra defense from environmental factors and free radicals.

Shrankhla developed a gorgeous blend that harmonizes with all skin types.

Sandalwood and rose oils inject the skin with hydration to help create luminosity; frankincense, orange, and neroli oils get your cells turning over faster, which help regenerate damaged skin cells and even out skin tone;  geranium tones the skin, calms inflammations, and stimulates blood circulation; clary sage has very unique and beneficial properties of balancing and regulating the production of sebum (natural oils) within the skin – working on both oily and dry skins alike to take them to moderate, healthy moisture levels.

performance: after two weeks of using this oil I was blown away…

And that is how I still describe it to this day. It’s literally like you’re laying silk on top of your face. It’s fast absorbing and you’re left with soft, supple, touch-ma-face skin that feels hydrated and looks like it’s in complete feng shui.

But what made it’s holy grail status clear to me was how my skin felt when I stopped using it. It didn’t have that velvety smooth feel. When I find myself reaching for a particular oil above all others time and time again I know I’ve got a keeper.

I also think Shrankhla’s production process has an impact on the oil’s effect. All ingredients are grown, extracted, formulated and bottled at their estate in India and the plants are harvested no more than two times before replanting to generate highest quality essential oils.

    • This product doesn’t contain any ‘toxic’ chemicals (all ingredients, natural or synthetic are actually chemicals as their molecules form ‘chemical bonds’) and is perfect for any skin type!
