{review} may lindstrom ‘the clean dirt’

the clean dirt

I’m not the first person to write a review on may lindstrom’s the clean dirt and I certainly won’t be the last. Thoughts on an exfoliant this good tend to spread far and wide…and for a long time.

Why will May’s product line pass into folklore? Because there is true craftsmanship behind this brand. All of her products are made in small batches by May herself, formulated without harsh ingredients and synthetics, and with sensitive types in mind.

These are my delectable treats, made for me, by me and shared with you. This is my journey exposed, my dreams launched, my passion spilling from my hands to the bottle you take home. I am on a quest to inspire loving self care rituals, reveal radiant skin and ignite recognition of our individual beauty.

Packaged in a glamorous black and gold glass jar, the clean dirt has some pretty unique top notes (nutmeg, clove, turmeric and ginger) that immediately jumped out at me – reminding me of my favourite carrot cake recipe, yum! The one ingredient that sealed the deal however, and had me clamoring to try it out, was raw cacao – an ancient super food.

Raw cacao contains the highest whole food source of magnesium and antioxidants – more than red wine, green tea and blueberries combined – which helps fight free radicals. It also contains sulfur, a mineral that promotes beautiful skin as it helps to detoxify the liver.

the ritual shut the world out for 20 mins and enjoy some much deserved ‘you’ time. pour a teaspoon into a bowl and slowly add water. The ingredients will begin to activate upon contact with the water, bubbling up as you mix them together. Massage into your face and let the cleansing clays, warming spices, healing salts and cacao work their magic!

the result? my skin felt smoother, tighter, and decongested. I finished off by applying a facial oil, but unlike other scrubs that leave my skin feeling tight, this was really more of a pampering step as my skin already felt pretty hydrated.

the clean dirt was given to me as a sample, but I can definitely see myself buying a bottle of this ‘magic dust’ once it runs out. $63 for almost 7 oz may seem like a lot, but keep in mind you’re investing in quality for your skin and that in powder form this will last you quite a long time – making the cost per use mere pennies!
