{review} rms beauty raw coconut cream

rmsbeauty coconut oil

One of my favourite things to do on Sunday is to curl up on the couch with a cup of tea and read In Style. As I was flipping through the pages I came across an article on Rose-Marie Swift, a celebrity make-up artist who launched her own cosmetics line (rms beauty) after researching the impact of chemicals in beauty care products. The products are manufactured using minimal heat so that the enzymes, vitamins and healing properties of the ingredients remain fully intact to penetrate and rejuvenate the skin.

At the time I was shopping for a makeup remover so the rms beauty raw coconut cream peaked my interest. Coconut oil is known for its anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties that remove dirt, makeup and bacteria from the skin.

So how did it perform? Let’s just say I can’t live without it. Makeup has never slid off my skin so easily and as an added bonus my perma-parched skin felt moisturized!

I now use coconut oil as a makeup remover, cleanser, moisturizer and hair mask … talk about a multi-use product! … and it will even work wonders on oily skin. Am I crazy? Think back to chem class: like dissolves like…therefore oil dissolves oil. Skin needs oil to stay protected and moisturized so if you strip it of its oil it fights back by producing MORE oil in an attempt to stay balanced.

How do you think the Italian, Greek, Indian and Middle Eastern women get their radiant, dewy and glowing skin? Oil. Oils like avocado, olive, argan, camelia, grapeseed, jojoba or coconut will cleanse and moisturize the skin all in one.

As I said, I can’t live without it.

Lovely review! I am obsessed with Coconut oil and was wondering what made RMS’s so special. I actually did some research and found a Coconut Oil for much cheaper that follows the same low heat process, you can find the review here: http://cassandmerlune.com/blog/2013/7/25/a-coconut-oil-comparison-rms-live-superfoods

    • Hi Lisa

Like you, I’m completely obsessed with coconut oil and don’t discount the fact that there are cheaper, high-quality alternative options to rms. I’ve tried a few of these alternatives and it really comes down to personal preference. I find the coconut cream by rms has a very light scent and is lighter in texture to other ones I’ve tried (i.e. nativa). However, that being said I can only purchase rms online which is sometimes prohibitive when I run out. In that case I turn to natural food store brands and find my skin responds equally as well. But, there’s something about rms that gives me this feeling of ultimate pampering – like I said it’s all about personal preference. So if you have a chance to try it I would, and then compare it against other brands and decide what you and your skin like better.

Hope that helps – thanks so much for reading my post and for leaving a comment!

I love coconut oil too! I just pick up a jar at the grocery store for about $6. I use it as a hair conditioner, all purpose body oil and makeup remover, but it’s also good for your inside beauty! I use it all the time in cooking and baking. It’s awesome!

    • Agreed! I’ve even started replacing butter with it when I make butter cream icing for my cupcakes – a total success!

I also use this coconut cream as a cleanser and moisturiser. It’s amazing. It can also be used as a deodorant – the uses are endless. Great article!

Such an informative article! A makeup remover/cleanser/moisturizer all in one healthy application. It doesn’t get better than that!!
