{review} prtty peaushun & chocolate sun self tanners

natural self-tanner prtty peaushun and chocolate sun review

Being primarily of English and Scottish descent means that tanning does not come easily to me. Like not at all. I think I even uttered to my sister last year during our trip to Europe that if I didn’t come home tanned I was officially a vampire. Three weeks of constant sun and I was tanned….juuuuusssst slightly.

Hey, I’ll take what I can get.

Now, considering I work in an office the level of sun rituals experienced while on vacation is almost non-existent. I see the sun rise and set and that’s pretty much it. So, finally tired of looking at my fish-belly-white legs I decided to whip out two natural self tanners – chocolate sun (medium) and prtty peaushun (dark; pronounced ‘pretty potion’) – and put them to the test.

application: both brands were ridculously easy to apply. After exfoliation and moisturizing I basically treated them like a second moisturizer. Cover all areas in an even application and you’re good to go. Streaking, staining or weird patches?

johnny depp_piratesperformance: I applied four coats of the tanner (ha! I sound like I’m painting a wall) to the lower half of my leg so you could see the difference between my natural skin tone and the resulting colour. The ‘tan’ from both brands turned out to be very similar – as you can see from the swatch they’re pretty much the same – and both gave me a natural looking glow. But I do have to say the colour from chocolate sun lasted longer, whereas prtty peaushun required more touch-ups. But really, that’s a first world problem and not an actual con. I love and highly recommend both!

Love this review Sonja! I should let you know that Prtty Peaushun is actually 100% natural now. They launched their new formulation in February. Just another reason to love it more!

Perfect timing was thinking the same thing yesterday!!! How long did they last on your skin? Never used lotion before but always wanted to 🙂

In order to maintain colour I applied prtty peaushun every other day (next time I think I’ll buy the ‘very dark’ formula), however colour from chocolate sun would last probably a week if you weren’t doing a lot of exfoliation or dry brushing. The great thing about prtty peaushun was that the colour was apparent as soon as you applied it, versus having to let it ‘develop’ which is perfect if a last minute night out pops up 🙂

Looks SO REAL! No streaks or blotches. My favorite for the natural glow effect is the Prtty Peaushun, but yes, both look fantastic!
