{review} lina hanson global face & body serums

lina hanson serums

Lina Hanson, celebrity make-up artist, natural beauty expert and author of Eco-Beautiful—The Ultimate Guide to Natural Beauty and Wellness, launched a hand-crafted, luxurious line of green beauty serums, containing exotic essential oils ethically sourced from around the world. Each one of these beautiful oils works to repair, protect and hydrate the skin.

We believe nature has provided us with the best ingredients to heal our planet. For centuries, people all around the world have relied on natural oils and herbs to treat skin-issues, and even sicknesses. We are committed to bringing back these ‘skin-care secrets’ and making them easily attainable for all.

In addition to Lina’s ideals and her brand philosophy, I love the fact that a portion of the sales go to charities who are trying to make a real difference in this world.

The Lina Hanson Global Face Serum was so successful that the Lina Hanson Global Body Serum immediately followed. And for good reason. Each one uses a intoxicating blend of oils so nourishing that “dry skin” no longer becomes a term you use or remember.

Lina had reached out to offer me samples of her infamous products and I couldn’t have been happier! I had been wanting to try them for awhile, but even though I received samples my review, as always, is my own.

score card

global face serum

ingredients: baobab seed oil (known in africa as the “tree of life”), argan oil, marula kernel oil, camellia seed oil (secret behind Japanese women’s flawless and porcelain complexion), pumpkin seed oil, brazil nut oil, vitamin e, mandarin oil, neroli oil, frankincense oil, palmarosa oil, ylang ylang oil.

packaging: preserved in a dark glass bottle for product longevity

performance: light in texture and non-greasy (even though it has an oily texture), this beauty absorbs fairly quickly and is a great make-up primer. I apply 1/2 pump after cleansing, and using a hydrating mist, and will let it absorb for a few minutes before applying a facial oil. Because it’s so luxurious, and deeply moisturizing, I sometimes apply it on its own at night.

price: $85 for 30ml

for-the-win? yeeeeessss! This product smells so good (I think I’m attracted to the frankincense?) that sometimes I’ll unscrew the cap just to smell it. And I’ll even put it on my wrists like a perfume to keep the scent around me…hmm maybe too obsessive? The price may seem steep, but since it’s a very rich blend of oils a little bit goes a long, long way making the cost per use more acceptable. For example, this serum should last you at least 5 months – if you use it every day that’s approximately 150 days. $85/150 days = $0.57 per use. So cheap right?!

global body serum

ingredients: rice bran oil, avocado oil, apricot kernel oil, argan nut oil, brazil nut oil, pumpkin seed oil, camellia seed oil, vitamin E, grapefruit oil, vanilla oil, yuzu oil.

packaging: preserved in a dark glass bottle for product longevity

price: $63 for 100ml

performance: like the face serum, it’s light in texture, non-greasy and spreads/absorbs easily – for me, one pump is enough for my whole arm. Historically, I really only paid attention to keeping my face hydrated and, to my shame, let the rest of my body fend for itself. I was pretty impressed with how soft it made my skin feel, and it had even calmed down the dry/itchy situation I had going on across my thighs (I know, that’s totally a gross image I just gave everyone -sorry). I immediately reprimand myself for waiting so long to discover body serums.

for-the-win? complete win performance-wise, however the only reason I wouldn’t buy it is that it’s scent is a little too sweet for me…but this is 100% personal preference and not a reflection of the product itself.

As a closing thought, facial and body serums are all about preference it terms of scent, texture and application. Some of you may be put off by their strong aromas or richness, but they do get the job done (and quite beautifully I might add). If you get the chance to try either of them or both I would highly recommend it!

Awesome post! I’m definitely loving both products but if I had to choose one I’d definitely choose the Body Serum, it smells heavenly and my skin really loves this stuff. Xo, Audreiana from True Beauty By Nature

    • Hey Audreiana!

both products are incredible for drenching your skin in moisture. I’m so addicted to the frankincense that I’m hoping Lina develops more products with it as the star oil. hope you’re having a great day! xo

Body oils…..yes, a neglected area that I too am in the process of rectifying. These products sound divine!
