{review} kjaer weis cream foundation

kjaer weis foundation review by life in blushDeciding whether or not to buy an item from the Kjaer Weis line is never the question – deciding what to buy, while at the same time respecting the fact that my wallet is not Mary Poppins carpet bag, is always my problem. But when their cream foundation hit the market this year, after months of anticipation, I smacked down my money and eagerly torn open the Cartier-esque box to test it out.

scorecard

ingredients: sweet almond seed oil, caprylic/capric Triglyceride, coconut oil, corn starch, cera alba, carnauba wax, jojoba seed oil, polyglyceryl-3 diisostearate, non-gmo tocopheryl (vitamin E) acetate.

texture: light and creamy; semi-matte and almost powdery, but not chalky. A lot of people have been comparing it to rms un-cover, but I find it to be much lighter in texture and not as oily.

shades: click here for an overview. Options are limited right now, but the company is working on expanding their selection for darker-toned skin.

pre-application: cream foundations are typically best suited for dry skin, however I found my skin needed to be well-hydrated -otherwise the dry patches I was trying to hide suddenly had blinking lights around it.

application: once your face is nice and dewy you can use your fingers, a sponge or a foundation brush to create some flawless magic. I’ve personally been using a sponge to buff and blend, but I’m thinking about picking up the Kjaer Weis foundation brush and giving that a whirl.

performance: one of the perks of being so fair is that I never have to guess which colour foundation to buy – it’s always the lightest shade. This time was no exception, and I think I even uttered “nnniiiice!” when I first put it on because it was a PERFECT match for my skin tone (I bought “Like Porcelain”). Most other foundations, even the lightest ones, are either still a touch too dark or they’re so light it makes me look ghostly.

Once blended the Kjaer Weis cream foundation truly melts into your skin for a flawless look – right up until cocktail hour and beyond. Best part is that I never feel like I’m wearing foundation and I don’t even need a finishing powder.

So how about coverage? One word. Buildable. You can feather on several layers to help cover any redness and it won’t look like you’re getting ready to take the stage. I also use it under my concealer to help minimize that stubborn purple hue that likes to yell “good morning!” in my face each day.

price: $76 CAD for the luxe case and product; $46 CAD for refills (don’t even think twice. yes, it’s worth it.)

where to buy: here and here

for-the-win? after two months of wearing it daily (and still lots left!) I’m still as excited to put it on as the first day I opened that little red box.

Hi. Yes, I definitely see what you’re saying with making sure your skin is hydrated before. I have the same color as you and most likely, the same kind of skin and I had those dry areas…hydrate if you’re dry and want to get this! Thanks for the review! I’m not alone anymore! Katie – GPJ

A cream foundation that looks invisible yet does the job. Can’t ask for more than that!!
