{review} ilia beauty lip crayons

Ilia Beauty Lip Crayons

Chances are, even if you’re not a subscriber to the green beauty movement, you’ve heard of Ilia Beauty. Thanks to Canadian-born beauty Sasha Plavsic’s vision to create an organic beauty line that performed just as well as its mainstream counterpart, it’s been popping up in mainstream circles more frequently.

Her lip crayons debuted earlier this year to much anticipation, and of the six shades available my first two picks were Dress You Up and Iko Iko.

Packed with healing oils of sesame, rose hip and papaya, the lip crayon is creamy in texture (similar to that of their lipstick), highly moisturizing (more so than their lipstick, but not as much as their lip conditioner) and highly pigmented – which lends itself well for some pretty impressive staying power.

Ilia Beauty Lip Crayons in Iko Iko and Dress Me Up

score card:

colour: dress you up is a true mauve and can be worn all year long;  iko iko is a gorgeous burnt orange/copper shade (slightly darker than the photo) and can be mixed with other shades for a bronzey shimmer.

performance: I swiped it on before work and didn’t have to re-apply until the early afternoon. Yeeaah baby!! The other great thing is that you don’t need a sharpener since it simply twists up, but if you’re looking to add definition to your lips then you can pair Jane Iredale’s lip definer in rose with dress me up and peach with iko iko.

price: $24 at the detox market

for-the-win? you betcha! there isn’t a single product I’ve tried from this line that I haven’t liked. Non-toxic ingredients, high performance and super moisturizing, this little beauty is a keeper.
