{review} camp desert island wonder balm

CAMP Desert Island Wonder Balm

You know the saying “kill two birds with one stone”? (ok that’s actually a horrible saying, but bear with me)

Well, with one jar of CAMP Desert Island Wonder Balm you can literally do ten, not two, things with it. Touted as a cleanser, moisturizer and treatment its vitamin-rich plant oils rescue dehydrated skin and its medicinal herbal infusions soothe irritations including sunburn, eczema and even minor cuts and scrapes.

Now, let me count the ways in which this balm has brought joy to my life:

  1. makeup remover
  2. body moisturizer
  3. lip balm
  4. cuticle treatment
  5. nightly hand treatment (with ma sexy cotton gloves)
  6. taming unsightly frizz
  7. converting a loose powder concealer to cream
  8. converting a loose powder foundation to cream
  9. spot treatment for rough patches of skin
  10. face moisturizer

I know, impressive right?

Guys, I’m nerding out over how awesome these ingredients are.

performance: on the heels of reviewing their Dreamcatcher Youth Serum I knew that I was in for another “mind blown” experience and I wasn’t wrong.

It effortlessly removed makeup and cleansed the face without disturbing it’s natural feng shui; it perfectly primed my lips for ultimate softness; it actually worked to tame a few frizzies I had one day (wee amount used on dry hair); I LOVED it as a base to mix mineral makeup with and it was an awesome overnight hand cream. But I didn’t love it as much as a face moisturizer just because my skin is finicky and didn’t get drunk on hydration like it prefers to (it’s such a party gal). But that’s my skin; everyone is different.

price: $35 for 2 ounces

for-the-win? oh yah. The brew masters behind this brand certainly know their sh*t.

>>about the ingredients>>

  • chamomile: anti-inflammatory and deeply healing to dry, irritated or inflamed skin
  • comfrey: regenerative and high in allantoin (naturally-occuring compound known to quicken cell regeneration and tissue-tightening tannins to speed healing and improve skin’s texture)
  • yarrow: anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and incredibly healing for the skin
  • sweet almond oil: nourishing, hydrating with a non-greasy feel
  • calendula: anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antifungal, restores elasticity and suppleness to skin
  • local beeswax:  CAMP sources their beeswax from “a happy hive” in Toronto. Beeswax locks in moisture and protects skin from damaging environmental factors.
  • lavender essential oil: stimulates circulation, balances skin’s oil levels
  • helichrysum essential oil: anti-aging superstar. Regenerates skin tissue, relieves inflammation, and protects skin from damaging free radicals
  • rosemary essential oil: revitalizing and hydrating

Happy Friday blushers! Thanks for joining me this week and have a great weekend! xo

*Sample generously provided, but you know the drill all opinions, blushing or not, are my own.*

  • I really want to try their dreamcatcher serum and the filthy rich face cream. You always use the best gifs in your posts! Your Andy Samberg gif reminds me that I need to catch up on Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

    • Haha and I’m reminded (by my sister) that I need to start watching it. Perhaps this week I’ll find a pocket of time to binge watch it 😀 Thanks for saying hello Jess, be sure to let me know if you end up trying their serum as I’ll be curious to see if you love it as much as I do! xx

  • Holy moly I think I need this! Sounds like the Neal’s Yard Wild Rose Beauty Balm but even better! Going to see if I can get this on Etsy!

    • I just got home from a long day and the first thing I reached for was this balm to take off the day’s dirt. I’m gonna have to go ahead and say that you do, you really do need this 🙂

  • Sounds really nice! x

  • I love a good balm and the ingredients in this one are amazing! I’ve been meaning to try CAMP as I’ve heard so much about it. Thanks Sonja for the lovely review! Have a great weekend.

    • They really are, aren’t they?! Hope you had a good weekend too Megan 🙂 xo

  • Yay, finally, a do-it-all balm that does NOT contain coconut oil (which makes me break out a lot). I will have to look into this one!

    • Yaaay!!! Be sure to let me know if you end up getting it and what you think of it 🙂 xx
