oxblood – red’s classy cousin

oxblood lip and nail colours / lifeinblush.com

Oxblood, a dark shade of red, is primarily a large fashion trend for fall/winter,
but how boring would life be if you only wore colours when fashion magazines told
you to? I personally like to go off trend when I find colours that work well with
my fair complexion and oxblood is no exception.

Oxblood lip and nail colour compliments both fair and dark complexions and just
like it’s fiery red cousin oxblood lip colour is best worn with modest amounts of
makeup. If you have fair skin be sure to sweep a light touch of blush or bronzer
on your cheeks as this colour can easily wash you out; and if you don’t normally
wear dark colours, but want to test it out, I recommend dabbing a bit on your lips
first for a softer look. Make-up is all about experimenting and having fun so if
you not already acquainted with red’s classy cousin I encourage you to try it out
– I’m sure you will soon fall in love as I did!

This color is fabulous, and doesn’t look out of season when worn with a spring trench coat!

Lovely post! I prefer not to follow trends either because even though the dark lip and nail isn’t in right now I’ve still been drawn to very deep colors even though spring supposibly calls for much brighter colors. Great product recommendations 🙂 Xo, Audreiana from True Beauty By Nature

    • Thanks Audreiana! Spring/Summer collections typically sport very bright fashion colours, and while I do have a huge crush on neon yellow right now, I still love to play with rich colours like oxblood. It’s makes for a great evening look!
