make-up tips & tricks

how to tightline / lifeinblush.com

Tightlining. I was tightlining before I knew what it was called and it’s perhaps one of the best beauty tricks I know. I love wearing eyeliner so much that I consider it a close second behind mascara on my desert island list.

There are some days however, when I want to sport an effortless look (ok, if I’m being honest it’s because I’m in a rush or late for work) and tightlining is a fast and genius way to bring definition to your eyes. It’s also great for those who don’t usually wear eye make-up, because it makes the eyelashes look thicker and darker at the roots without giving the appearance of wearing make-up at all.

tools:

  • eye pencil – I used Pure + Simple Mineral Eyeliner in black opal because it’s a green beauty product and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes.
  • note: if you prefer to use a gel liner instead of a pencil then use a flat eyeliner brush to apply. Laura Mercier Flat Eye Liner Brush is a great option because it’s the perfect thickness and stiffness

steps:

  • with one hand gently lift eye up
  • with your other hand line the upper waterline, starting at the outer corner
  • continue applying the liner across the waterline until you’ve reached the inner corner.
  • add a coat of mascara and you’re good to go!
