{diy} honey & lavender mask

amy adams

Hello blushers! I hope everyone had a great weekend filled with lots of self-pampering, relaxation, and of course – love!

I spent part of my weekend getting to know Julie Clark, of Province Apothecary, (will post more on that later!) and not only did she teach me a lot about my skin and what role essential oils play in keeping it hydrated, but she also gave me a DIY honey mask recipe that would help unclog my pores, exfoliate my skin and make it glow. Since Sunday nights are my favourite time to turn my bathroom into a green goddess spa I thought it was the perfect time to try her recipe out.

  • recipe: 1 tsp of honey; 1/4 tsp plain greek yogurt; lavender essential oil*
  • directions: apply to your face and wait 10-20 minutes. Your skin will be so sticky so massage and play around with it- this will stimulate, tighten and tone your skin!   *julie’s recipe didn’t call for lavender, but I love the scent so much so I couldn’t help but add a drop!

why honey and yogurt? according to Julie:

honey is a natural antioxidant and has the ability to lock in  moisture and absorb impurities from your pores; yogurt is cleansing, toning, calming and cooling, and is mild enough to use on sensitive skin. The rich zinc content helps clear up blemishes, reduce redness and shrink the size of your pores. The lactic acid is a natural skin softener and exfoliator (it acts as a gentle alpha hydroxy acid) and it will restore your skin to its natural acid pH level. Together they rejuvenate and refresh your skin.

So how did my skin feel after? For starters, my skin had definitely been stimulated; it was flush, soft to touch and felt plump with hydration. A definite recipe repeat!

That couldn’t be an easier DIY mask, especially for someone who has never tried making skin care products from scratch. You make it seem entirely doable! 🙂

    • easy-breezy! 🙂
